The official name of Qatar is the "State of Qatar" (or "Dawlat Qatar"). The name is also spelled as Qattar or Katar.

Doha (Ad-Dawhah) is the capital of Qatar and the most populated city (around 90% of Qataris live in Doha). Other main cities in Qatar include: Al-Wakrah, Ras Laffan Industrial City, Dukhan, Al-Khor, Umm Saeed, Al-Rayyan, Zubara and Al-Ruwais.

Qatar is one of the top oil and natural gas producing countries in the world, with the 3rd largest gas reserve.

Qatar attracts lots of visitors each year, who come for business, education, sports, shopping, tourism and other activities. Qatar hotels, restaurants and services are of the top levels in the world.

The population of Qatar is around 1.7 million (over 50% of the population are non-citizens). The main spoken languages are Arabic and English, as well as other languages like Hindi, Urdu and Bengali.
